A Swindon town centre road is closed after a road traffic collision tonight (Friday).

Police rushed to reports of a four-vehicle crash in Station Road at around 8.15pm.

A white van ploughed into a Jaguar before hitting the rear of a silver van just before the Gloucester Street turning. A Mini Cooper also sustained minor damage.

The driver of the silver van suffered whiplash; nobody sustained any serious injuries.

The road is closed to motorists between Cheltenham Street and the train station – but remains open to pedestrians.

The section of road is likely to remain closed until around 10.30pm, according to police at the incident.

Speculation suggests the driver of the white van fled the scene, but this has not yet been confirmed. Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
