Double-decker bus stolen from depot – police arrest suspect in Wiltshire

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a double-decker bus.

The First bus was reportedly stolen from the Lawrence Hill depot in Bristol overnight, according to Avon and Somerset Police.

Wiltshire officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) this morning (Wednesday) found the vehicle parked up at motorway services in the county.

The suspected thief was arrested suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, drug driving and other traffic-related offences.

“You wait and wait for a bus and then….a stolen one arrives!”, an RPU spokesperson said on X.

In a formal statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A man in his 20s has been arrested following the theft of a double decker bus from Bristol.

“The bus was tracked to Membury services, on the M4 around 10am this morning (27/09).

“The man was arrested on suspicion of taking without consent and driving a bus without the proper licence. He remains in police custody for questioning.”
