Man arrested after Swindon Magistrates’ Court windows smashed

A man’s been arrested after windows at Swindon Magistrates’ Court were smashed overnight.

Police were called to the scene in Gordon Road at around 7am this morning (Tuesday).

On arrival, officers found a number of windows smashed and launched an urgent probe – swiftly arrested a male suspect on suspicion of criminal damage.

The court opened at 9am and will sit as usual today – no hearings have been cancelled.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious or anyone with dashcam footage taken from the area near the court building in Princes Street between 6pm yesterday (04/09) and 7am today.

“Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101 quoting log 57 of today (05/09).”
