‘Dangerous’ driver Tasered as stinger deployed in Wiltshire pursuit

A ‘dangerous’ driver was shot with a Taser following a pursuit in Wiltshire.

During the very early hours of this morning (Tuesday), police attempted to pull over a Volskwagen Polo in Tidworth Road, Ludgershall – but the driver failed to stop.

A pursuit was authorised and the driver reportedly drove dangerously, exceeding the speed limits and travelling through red traffic lights for approximately ten mines.

The vehicle continued into Tidworth before driving along Bulford Road into Bulford where a stinger was set up.

The vehicle’s tyres were stung successfully but the vehicle continued, eventually stopping on the A303 – where the driver tried to flee and is said to have actively resisted officers.

The man, aged in his mid-20s from Laverstock, was subsequently shot with a Taser and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving with no insurance.

A roadside breath specimen was then requested from the driver who provided a positive breath specimen and blew 89 microgrammes, with the limit being 35. The driver was then further arrested for drink driving.

Following a search of the vehicle, a small amount of suspected class A drugs were located in the vehicle and the driver was further arrested for possession of a class A drug. His vehicle was seized.

He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station in Swindon.
