In a post on Facebook this morning (Saturday), Bemerton Heath Harlequins FC chariman Ricky Rogers said there will be a minute’s silence at today’s game.

He wrote: “Everyone here at Bemerton Heath Harlequins Club is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Tsvetomir Genov earlier this week.

“TG as he was known to his friends was a local lad, a former student at Sarum Academy and a member of our community.

“Our club would like to offer our sincere condolences to TG’s family and friends. If you are attending today’s game we will be paying our respects with a minutes silence.”

25-year-old Maurice Jones has been charged with murder and was remanded in custody at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (24 August).

Wiltshire Police also confirmed that they believe the weapon used in the attack has been recovered.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “Thanks to diligent work by officers and help from members of the public, we were able to swiftly arrest a suspect and I can confirm that he has now been charged with murder.

“I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the victim who continue to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this difficult time.

“I’d also like to thank the local community for their patience and help while we investigated this incident.”
