Cyclist hit by motorbike on crossing in Swindon as air ambulance lands

A cyclist was hit by a motorbike on a crossing in Swindon this evening (Thursday).

999 crews, including Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, were called to Marlborough Road shortly before 7pm following reports of a serious road traffic collision.

Wiltshire Police originally said a car and a motorbike were involved, but this was incorrect. A motorbike struck a cyclist close to the pedestrian entrance to Coate Water Country Park.

The cyclist, an adult male, suffered serious injuries and was treated by ambulance crews and critical care medics in the road – before being rushed to hospital.

The rider of the motorbike didn’t sustain any injuries and remained at the scene. No arrests have been made.

Marlborough Road is closed in both directions whilst emergency services work.
