Man pronounced dead after being struck by car when crossing Melksham road

A man’s died after being struck by a car in Melksham yesterday evening.

Police officers, paramedics and air ambulance critical care medics attended the scene on Spa Road – between Market Place and Coronation Road at around 6.30pm on Sunday evening.

The 78-year-old man who was crossing the road at the time of the collision died at the scene.

The crash involved a silver Volkswagen Golf, which stopped at the scene. Police are appealing to trace those travelling in a Citroën C1, which failed to stop despite witnessing the incident.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is currently ongoing; no arrests have been made.
