A community support officer was caught drink driving a police car in Wiltshire.
57-year-old Neil Turnbull pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (16 August).
The PCSO, who has since resigned from his role with Wiltshire Police, was suspended from the force following the incident in Salisbury in March this year.
The defendant, of Goose Street, Marston, near Devizes, provided reading of 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
In court, he was disqualified from driving for a period of 12 months. He was fined £500 and told to pay costs of £85 and a £200 surcharge.
Now that the criminal proceedings have concluded, the force says a gross misconduct investigation will resume into his actions.
Detective Inspector Adam Leakey said: “Clearly, the actions of Mr Turnbull fly in the face of the standards the public rightly expect from us.
“As a direct result of his actions, he could have posed a significant risk to the public, his colleagues and himself.
“A gross misconduct investigation can now continue and we will keep the public updated as to how this develops.”
