Man injured ‘slipping off bridge during mental health crisis’ in Swindon

A man was injured ‘slipping off a bridge’ during a late-night incident in Swindon.

Police attended the White Hart Roundabout at about 10.20pm yesterday (Thursday, 27 July) after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.

The man was reportedly suffering a mental health crisis on a foot bridge over the busy roundabout – which links the A419 with the A420 and Oxford Road.

Part of the roundabout was blocked by police for over an hour as they attempted to resolve the incident safely.

Whilst engaging with officers, the man is said to have “briefly slipped” off the bridge and sustained an injury – before he was helped to safety.

The man is “now receiving appropriate care”, Wiltshire Police confirmed.
