Driver critically injured in two-vehicle crash on A4 in Wiltshire

A driver’s been critically injured in a road traffic collision on the A4 in Wiltshire.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash on Box Road, near Ashley, Box, at around 7pm this evening (Friday).

Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended the scene to support local ambulance crews who took over from several members of the public who stopped to provide first aid.

A driver sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol in a life-threatening condition.

Three other people – including a child – involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

The incident happened just 20 metres from the county border with Somerset, meaning Wiltshire Police will be leading a forensic collision investigation.

The route, between Box and Batheaston/Bathford, is expected to remain closed overnight and into tomorrow morning (Saturday, 15 July).
