Supply teacher ‘told girl to kill herself’ at Swindon secondary school

A girl was reportedly told to kill herself by a teacher at a Swindon secondary school.

The Year 7 pupil’s mother claims she was targeted by a supply teacher at Nova Hreod Academy — and the incident was allegedly witnessed by others in the class.

In a statement, a school spokesperson said: “We can confirm that concerns were raised with the school about the behaviour of a temporary supply teacher.

“As a supply teacher, the individual was not employed by the school.

“As soon as the concerns were raised, the school informed the [Local Authority Designated Officer] and the police and the supply teacher has not and will not be returning to the school.

“Like any school, Nova Hreod uses external agencies for sourcing supply staff. The agency takes responsibility for vetting any staff it supplies to schools.”
