Cyclist injured in hit-and-run sparking Swindon route closure

A cyclist has been injured after being hit by a van that failed to stop in Swindon.

Emergency services attended the scene in Whitworth Road at around 5.45am today (Wednesday).

It’s said a vehicle and a bike had been involved in a collision near the Thames Avenue junction.

The driver of the vehicle, a grey van, failed to stop at the scene – leaving in the direction of Moredon.

The driver is described as a male wearing an orange hi-viz jacket.

The male cyclist has been taken to the Great Western Hospital. He is not thought to have suffered any life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

Whitworth Road was closed while investigations were carried out, and reopened at approximately 8.20am.

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101 and quote log number 47 of today.
