The Honda reportedly contained a woman driver and two children – who paramedics are understood to be assessing. They are not believed to be seriously injured.

The occupants of the Citroen, believed to be adults, were uninjured and the van was parked and unattended at the time of the collision.

The route is closed between the B3108 Winsley Road and the B3105 Leigh Road.

Recovery work is likely to be underway shortly – with the road likely to reopen at around 9pm.
