Man ‘sustains significant injuries’ falling from homeless hostel window

A man ‘sustained significant injuries’ when he fell from a window at a homeless hostel.

Paramedics rushed to Unity House in Wood Lane, Chippenham, at around 7am on Saturday (22 April).

The man, who according to a source suffered a broken spine and pelvis, was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for urgent medical treatment.

The casualty was reportedly intoxicated and hanging from a top-floor window before he fell to the ground.

An Alabaré spokesperson refused to comment on the specific incident, but said incidents that occur “would be reported to the appropriate regulatory bodies”.

They added: “We would cooperate fully, openly and with complete transparency with any investigation that might follow.”

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed it attended the serious incident, sending a double-crewed land ambulance at 7.05am which later conveyed the patient to hospital.
