This afternoon (Friday), forensic investigators are photographing and collecting evidence in a corner of Level 1 which has been taped off as a crime scene.

The area of focus contains a homeless person’s tent and belongings. It’s not clear what connection the woman had with the makeshift camp.

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.

“While we understand the public concern that this may cause, there is no wider threat to the public”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that it sent “two double-crewed land ambulances and a rapid response vehicle” to the scene.

Culver Street Car Park remains open to motorists whilst police investigate.

UPDATE: The man has since been released on bail whilst police work to establish the cause of death.
