Firefighters tackle blaze at Swindon B&B as police close central route

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a bed and breakfast in Swindon this afternoon (Thursday).

Emergency services rushed to the property in Sheppard Street at around 1.15pm amid reports of smoke billowing from the building.

At least three fire crews are in attendance, with firefighters battling the flames from the rear entrance.

Police have closed Holbrook Way, close to the Holiday Inn Express. Traffic is being diverted via Bridge Street and onto Station Road.

Sheppard Street is also closed to traffic and pedestrians.

At least three police units are on scene but nobody’s believed to have been injured. It’s not yet clear if there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
