Two people have been hospitalised after a crash involving a police car in Wiltshire.
Emergency services rushed to reports of a road traffic collision on the B4040 Malmesbury Road at around 5am this morning (Saturday).
A white car and a police car were involved in the incident – which happened at crossroads connecting Waterhay with Chelwood Industrial Estate across the main route.
Firefighters from stations in Swindon were reportedly mobilised to the scene and are believed to have worked to extricate a casualty from the white car.
A police officer and a member of the public, a man in his 50s, were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are understood to be moderate, but not life-changing or life-threatening.
The second police officer is also understood to have been injured, with minor wounds.
Forensic collision investigation work was ongoing from 9am this morning. The road is expected to remain closed until mid-afternoon.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “The crossroads near Chelworth Industrial Estate, Cricklade is currently closed following a road traffic collision involving a car and a police vehicle earlier this morning.
“A man in his 50s was taken to hospital, along with two of our officers, both with injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
“The closures are likely to remain in place for a number of hours, so please find alternative routes.
