Truck overturns on Wiltshire route after ‘swerving to avoid vehicle’

A truck has overturned on a Wiltshire route after ‘swerving to avoid a vehicle’.

Police were called to a sharp bend on the B4696 near Ashton Keynes at around 11am today (Thursday).

The Iveco Daily, with a number plate registered in Poland, fell onto a recently rebuilt wall on Ashton Road – at the junction with Swan Lane.

It’s claimed the truck driver swerved to avoid a vehicle which crossed the white line into his path on the sharp bend, hitting a kerb before overturning.

The driver managed to escape any injuries in the dramatic road traffic collision.

Police officers directed motorists past the scene in a stop-go fashion, causing only minor delays.

The road was later closed in both directions to allow recovery operatives to right and remove the truck.
