A Wiltshire firefighter was taken seriously ill after attending an emergency call.
A crew from Melksham responded to reports of an alarm activation at a care home in Ruskin Avenue at around 1.20am on Wednesday morning (8 March).
The team, who were all on-call firefighters, checked the building and confirmed there were no flames.
En route back to the fire station, one of the crew members fell seriously ill and required urgent treatment. He was cared for by his colleagues before being rushed to hospital.
A source claimed the retained Melksham firefighter, who is said to be well-respected, suffered a stroke.
“We are currently supporting the individual, their family and colleagues”, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
