999 crews scrambled to Trowbridge after person found dead on bridge

Emergency services were scrambled to a suspected suicide in Trowbridge today (Wednesday).

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was among the 999 crews called to the serious incident behind a block of flats in Innox Mill Close shortly after 12pm this afternoon.

A person was found hanged from a railway bridge over the River Biss, sparking a large response from Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service.

At least three local police vehicles, an ambulance and an ambulance officer were in attendance.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The British Transport Police (BTP) is heading up the investigation into the death.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service also sent a crew from Trowbridge to the scene alongside a fire officer.

Trains due to travel across the bridge were halted until around 1.30pm as 999 crews recovered the PERSON’S body.

The BTP confirmed that the person’s death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
