Swindon father assaulted his girlfriend and broke her mobile phone

A father assaulted his girlfriend and broke her mobile phone during a domestic incident.

31-year-old Jamie McCabe pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Valentine’s Day (14 February).

The defendant broke the woman’s candle holder on 19 September last year, before – a day later – breaking her mobile phone, pushing her in the bathroom and hitting her with a dog gate.

Mark Glendenning, defending, said his client accepts the assault and also accepts breaking the two items – but on a reckless basis. He asked for a pre-sentence report.

McCabe, of Padstow Road, Swindon, was released on bail with conditions not to contact his victim directly. He will return for sentence on 27 March.
