Man arrested as police respond to disorder at Chippenham hostel

A man has been arrested following a disorder at a homeless hotel in Wiltshire.

Police were called to Unity House in Wood Lane, Chippenham, at around 8pm today (Thursday).

Moments before multiple police vehicles arrived in the area on blue lights, the suspect was seen shouting in the street as staff waved down responding officers.

The man then made off into Bakehouse Close, about 100 metres away, where he was arrested.

He was abusive towards officers, calling them expletives and threatening to spit in their faces.

A police van was called to the location and the man was taken to Melksham custody. He was held on suspicion of committing criminal damage.
