Chippenham council forced to keep cemetery closed due to ‘dangerous black ice’

A council have been forced to keep a cemetery closed due to ‘dangerous black ice’.

Chippenham Town Council won’t open London Road Cemetery until the paths are safe for visitors to walk on.

John Coles Park will also remain closed due to icy conditions.

Both are expected to be closed for a significant chunk of the day – until the areas have defrosted.

A council spokesperson said: “John Coles Park and London Road Cemetery will not open this morning due to black ice making the pathways dangerous for visitors.

“We will let you know when they are both open again. Please take care this morning on all walkways.”
