A woman remains in custody after a man was ‘killed in a mobility scooter robbery’.
Emergency services were called to Tesco in Stroud, Gloucestershire, following reports of an unresponsive male in the car park at around 6am on Sunday morning (22 January).
The man, aged in his 60s, was found without his mobility scooter – which he uses as his mode of transport. He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital by paramedics and died later that day.
It is believed that the victim was the subject of a robbery and his scooter was taken. Detectives believe it was used in the Paganhill area before he was found critically unwell.
A local woman, aged 40, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Magistrates this morning (Tuesday) granted a warrant of further detention, allowing the Gloucestershire Constabulary more time to hold the suspect.
The Major Crime Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information which could assist is asked to contact the police.
