Man who died in ‘black ice crash’ near Chippenham named as family pay tribute

A man who lost his life in a crash in Yatton Keynell near Chippenham has been named.

Father-of-two Dan Wiles was driving his Audi when he was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda CR-V in Kents Bottom last Monday evening (16 January).

It’s believed the Honda driver lost control on black ice as the vehicle came down a hill on the B4039.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and the ambulance service, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now his family have released a statement in tribute to Dan, who was well-known and respected in the area.

They wrote: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm that the man who was killed last Monday in a car crash was our son, Dan Wiles.

“Known to many around the Chippenham area Dan would have been so honoured with the messages we have all received and all of the family thank everyone who has been in touch with us.

“Dan leaves us heartbroken and our job now will be look after his wonderful partner Laura and his two absolutely beautiful children, Harleigh and Theo.”
