Man jailed 72 hours after cannabis farm uncovered at Swindon home

A man has been jailed just three days after a cannabis farm was uncovered in Swindon.

Emiljano Isufi, 28, was charged with cultivation of cannabis following the discovery in Wolsely Avenue, Park South – an address he was renting – on 10 January.

In total, five rooms at the address had been transformed for the cultivation of cannabis, with a sophisticated set-up of approximately 200 plants at various stages of growth, and modified electrics at the property.

Isufi was arrested at the scene, charged and remanded to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court the following day. He pleaded guilty and was given a nine-month prison sentence.

PC Whettam said: “I am pleased that this case has been dealt with swiftly by the courts.

“This was a significant set up with all four bedrooms plus one ground floor room adapted for the sole purpose of cannabis production on a commercial scale.

“If you suspect drug activity in your neighbourhood, we would urge you to report your concerns to police so action can be taken and those involved put before this courts quickly, as this case demonstrates.”
