Both arrests relate to the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in the New Road Park area of Royal Wootton Bassett on New Year’s Day (1 January).

The wounded boy was taken to hospital before being arrested after his discharge.

A 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been bailed.

A/DS Natalie Stride of Swindon CID said: “We understand that this is an incredibly concerning incident for the local community and we are taking it very seriously.

“There is no place for incidents of this kind within our community and I know those living in Royal Wootton Bassett will be upset by the ages of those thought to be involved.

“We would like to reassure residents that we are conducting a robust investigation and you will continue to see an increased police presence in Royal Wootton Bassett while we continue to conduct our enquiries.”
