Christmas Eve tragedy: Boy, 4, dies in Center Parcs swimming pool incident

A young child has died following a serious medical emergency at a holiday resort in Wiltshire.

Emergency services rushed to reports of a child being pulled from the swimming pool at Center Parcs near Warminster at around 11am on Christmas Eve.

According to several witnesses, the child was quickly provided first aid by lifeguards – who were soon backed up by local ambulance crews.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was scrambled to the incident, landing on the site so the charity’s critical care medics could provide advance medical support.

Despite their best efforts, the child – a boy aged four – was pronounced dead at the scene.

One woman told Wiltshire 999s that she saw “a number of staff members in floods of tears” others asked people to evacuate the pool area.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Sadly, it’s been confirmed that a four-year-old boy has died following an incident at Center Parcs Longleat Forest near Warminster shortly after 11am this morning (24/12).

“This is not being treated as suspicious. Our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this difficult time.”
