Chippenham man remanded in custody charged with serious assaults on woman

A Chippenham man has been remanded in custody accused of numerous serious assaults.

45-year-old Gregory Ford appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (21 December) charged with four counts of actual bodily harm on a woman.

He also faces allegations of a further lower-level assault by beating and criminal damage, relating to a coat worth £50 belonging to the same woman.

The defendant, of James Close, Chippenham, did not enter any pleas. The case was sent to Swindon Crown Court due to the seriousness of the alleged offences.

He was remanded in custody over Christmas and will near appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 20 January.
