Owen Dunn was ‘stabbed in the heart with a machete’, a court was told.
A 14-year-old boy from Swindon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday) charged with murder.
Prosecutor Kate Prince said that the defendant, who stood in the dock flanked by two security guards, is accused of approaching Owen with another male in Haydon End at around 1.30pm on Sunday.
He allegedly took a knife out of his trousers and stabbed the victim in the armpit area a single time. The pair then cycled away from the scene.
Owen attempted to ride away on his bike but collapsed on Torun Way. The stab wound had hit his heart and medics were unable to save his life.
The case was sent to Bristol Crown Court. The defendant was remanded in custody until the next appearance on Tuesday.
He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
