A crime scene is in place after a man was sustained serious injuries near a multi-storey car park.

Emergency services were called to the scene next to the Brunel West Car Park in Farnsby Street, Swindon, at around 6am this morning (Saturday).

Great Western Air Ambulance was in attendance alongside three ambulances, an ambulance rapid response vehicle and at least six police vehicles.

Critical care medics, alongside local paramedics, provided emergency care to the wounded person before transferring them into an ambulance and leaving the scene on blue lights – with a police escort – at around 8am.

It’s not yet clear how the casualty came to be injured, though one theory being probed by police is that the man fell from the car park.

A crime scene cordon is being guarded by officers ahead of investigation work, which is expected to be carried out by forensics in due course.

Wiltshire Police confirmed a man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a “mental health incident”.
