Pictures show Woodhenge crash scene where man, 30s, dies as driver arrested

Pictures show the tragic scene where a man died after being hit by a van two miles from Stonehenge.

Emergency services were called to the fatal road traffic collision on the A345 at Woodhenge at around 12.20am this morning (Sunday 13 November).

Shortly after their arrival, a pedestrian – a man in his 30s – was pronounced dead. It’s believed the victim was walking in the carriageway at the time of impact.

The driver of the white Ford van, a man in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

The suspect was later released on bail whilst the investigation into the smash continues.

The main road was closed in both directions to both vehicles and pedestrians for more than 12 hours whilst complex forensic collision investigation work was carried out.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have dash cam footage should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 and quote log number 14 of November 13.”
