Swindon man, 30s, arrested by armed police after alleged sexual assault

A man has been arrested following a reported sexual assault in Swindon.

Police were called to reports of a sex attack in the area at around 11.30pm last night (Sunday, 30 October).

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted by local officers, with an armed response unit and a roads policing unit acting quickly to stop it near Coate Water, in Marlborough Road.

The man, in his 30s from Covingham, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female and possession of a class B drug.

He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station for questioning and the investigation is ongoing.
