Driving test abandoned in Swindon after schoolchild throws rock at car

A driving test was abandoned after a schoolchild threw a rock at a car in Swindon.

The incident happened as the learner’s vehicle passed Nova Hreod Academy in Akers Way on Monday afternoon (26 September).

A student was on their driving test with an examiner when a rock struck the windscreen of their car, causing a large crack in the glass.

As a result, the test had to be terminated – and the student now faces a wait of around five months for a new test date due to the coronavirus lockdown backlog.

Nobody was injured in the incident but the damage is expected to cost £2,000 to repair, according to Haitch Driver Training.
