Swindon man banned from contacting woman for 28 days after alleged assault

A man has been banned from contacting a woman for 28 days following an alleged domestic.

Investigator Gemma Sole, from Wiltshire Police, asked Swindon Magistrates’ Court to impose a domestic violence protection order (DVPO) on Mark Dennis this morning (21 September).

The 31-year-old, of Albion Street, Swindon, is alleged to have assaulted his partner in an incident at her home address between 16-17 September.

Police were called to the property by neighbours who heard a woman shouting for help and asking someone to stop, along with banging.

The alleged victim was found with a lump on her forehead and told officers that Dennis had said: “I should kill you right now”, while putting his hand over her mouth and nose.

Ms Sole told the court that the woman thought the defendant was going to kill her.

Magistrates granted the 28-day order, prohibiting Dennis from molesting the woman or going within 100 metres of her address in Horsham Road, Park North.
