Police have closed a road in Chippenham following a ‘major’ gas leak.

Police officers are standing guard over the section of road, preventing both pedestrians and motorists from passing through the closure.

It’s believed some local residents have also been evacuated from their homes.

One local told Wiltshire 999s that the leak seemed “major”, citing a loud high-pitched noise.
