A Yamaha motorcycle was severely damaged in the crash – which impacted a car on the sharp bend. It’s not yet clear who was at fault.

The rider, a man, was rushed to hospital with injuries that Wiltshire Police describe as “serious but not life-threatening”.

Several members of the public could be seen giving the casualty emergency first aid before 999 crews arrived at the incident.

The crash caused significant travel delays for motorists in the area, with queuing traffic seen on Bridge Centre Roundabout, in Audley Road, Marshfield Road and Station Road.

Vehicle recovery work has taken place and the road is expected to reopen before 4.15pm.
