Supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bristol, officers were able to locate and arrest a local male. He remains in custody for questioning.

Part of the park has been cordoned off as a crime scene since the robbery for searches and forensic investigation work.

Wiltshire Police would not confirm speculation that the suspect threatened the victim with a firearm.

In an earlier statement, a force spokesperson said: “Reports of this nature are taken extremely seriously and detectives are continuing with their enquiries this morning.

“We would urge anyone with information to call 101 and quote log number 314 of Sunday August 28.

“Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
