A Swindon nightclub has been allowed to stay open by agreeing to strict terms, including the employment of a paramedic and the use of a breathalyser on customers.

Tree, in Old Town, was set new conditions for its licence following a large number of crime and disorder incidents at the establishment since opening.

The new conditions include the employment of a paramedic, ID scanners to process customers though, equipping door staff with body cameras to name just a few.

It’s understood the new conditions have cost the owner thousands of pounds.

Every customer will be asked to provide either a driving licence or passport on entry, which will be processed through an ID scanner connected to a national database.

Groups of men will be refused entry, but groups of women are allowed.

“We strongly advise guests not to arrive over-intoxicated otherwise entry will not be permitted subject to a breathalyser test”, a spokesperson said.
