Man, 30s, rushed to hospital after stabbing at Swindon park as three arrested

Three people have been arrested after a man was stabbed at a park in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services swarmed Queen’s Park from all directions shortly after 4pm this afternoon (Friday, 12 August) following a report of serious disorder.

A man in his 30s sustained knife wounds during the incident – and was rushed to hospital.

Wiltshire 999s understands officers arrested three people – including an 18-year-old man, who is being held in custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Three crime scenes were erected and guarded around the park as police launched an urgent probe – with two of the cordons containing clothing, potentially left by the perperator/s.

The attack was carried out just metres from the organisers of Pride Picnic, an even by Swindon and Wiltshire Pride – which is due to continue as usual tomorrow.

The stabbing isn’t believed to have been connected in any way to the LGBTQ+ event.

Duty Supt Phil Staynings said: “People may notice an increased police presence in the area this afternoon while officers continue with their enquiries – please do not be alarmed by this.

”If you have any concerns, please do approach an officer.”
