Swindon beautician slapped woman after she admitted sleeping with sister’s boyfriend

A beautician slapped a woman after she admitted sleeping with her sister’s boyfriend.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (10 August), 19-year-old Louanna-Mae Hunter pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating.

Prosecutor Pauline Lambert said the defendant, of Pinehurst, attacked her victim outside The Windmill pub in Freshbrook on 12 July this year.

Hunter went up to the woman while she sat on a bench outside the establishment and told her to “stand up right now”.

When the defendant asked the woman if she had ‘slept’ with her sister’s boyfriend, and she admitted it. Hunter then slapped her across the face – leaving a red mark.

A member of the public intervened, telling the defendant to leave her victim alone. Hunter walked away but returned moments later, pushing the woman’s face down on a table.

Charlotte Frizzell, defending, said her client accepts it was an “immature incident”.

She told the court that there had been prior correspondence via text message – where they had arranged to fight each over the matter.

Ms Frizzell added that Hunter was “upset and angry” and had been drinking before the assault. She said that her client had been in hospital, and had also taken nine different medications.

She said Hunter works as a beauty therapist and runs her own business, which is said to be “doing really well”.

Ms Frizzell asked the court to consider imposing a conditional discharge.

The magistrates said the case was too serious for a conditional discharge and instead imposed a £300 fine and told Hunter to pay £100 compensation to her victim. She must also pay a £120 surcharge and £85 costs.
