Casualty rushed to hospital after huge emergency response to house near Swindon

Emergency services swarmed a residential road near Swindon yesterday evening (Monday, 8 August).

Five ambulance vehicles and Great Western Air Ambulance were sent to the serious medical incident in The Ridge, Blunsdon, at around 5.45pm.

The usually-quiet resident street was heaving with 999 vehicles, including four police cars.

Shortly before 7pm, the casualty was transferred from a house and into the back of an ambulance.

They were rushed to the hospital – believed to be Southmead Hospital in Bristol – by road, with medics from Great Western Air Ambulance accompanying the patient.

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that it send six resources to the incident – including fire service first responder, a rapid response vehicle, an operations officer, two double-crewed land ambulances and an air ambulance.

The exact nature of the emergency is unknown, but Wiltshire Police has confirmed that is was not a police matter – despite the heavy police presence.
