Det Sgt Scott Anger said: “We take reports of suspected drink spiking seriously.

“People should be able to feel safe when going for a night out and we have dedicated night-time patrols in response to public concerns.

“Detectives are leading the investigation into this matter.

“We continue to work with our partner agencies and venues and have operations such as Project Vigilant as part of our preventative approach to tackling this type of offence.”

The force says, at this stage of the investigation, there is nothing to suggest this incident was caused by an injection spiking.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54220083044.
