The family of a ‘wonderful’ man who was found dead in a woodland have paid tribute to him.

34-year-old Karl Goodwin was described as being a ‘funny, cheeky and amazing’ person who will be missed by all who loved him.

The martial artist was pronounced dead at Seven Fields nature reserve, in Penhill, at around 5am – just hours after he was reported missing.

In a short tribute, his sister Tara said: “Last night my wonderful, funny, cheeky, amazing brother Karl Goodwin has sadly passed away, we are all heart broken and we have no words to describe our pain as a family.

“He was a wonderful Son, Dad, Brother, Uncle and Friend.

“As a family we are truly devastated, we just can’t come to terms with it. He will be sorely missed by all that loved him.”

A close family friend, Jenny Middleton, set up a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for Karl’s funeral – describing him as “the absolute best with a heart of gold”.

She hopes to help raise £2,000 to help “relieve [the family’s] burden of funeral costs”.
