Emergency services were called to a report of a man found hanged in woodland off Stockbridge Copse, Peatmoor, shortly after midnight today (Thursday, 28 July).

Due to contact with Wiltshire Police before his death, the force referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The watchdog will investigate how the police handled the incident, and whether they could have done anything differently to prevent his death.

A spokesperson confirmed that the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and his family has been informed.
