Violent domestic abuser wanted on prison recall arrested after two weeks on the run

A violent domestic abuser spent two weeks on the run before being arrested by police.

Wiltshire Police issued an appeal for help from the public to locate 46-year-old David Dent, from Chippenham, on 11 July.

The force yesterday (Wednesday, 20 July), confirmed he has been arrested in Bristol and returned to prison.

In 2004, he stabbed his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. He was jailed for eight years.

Last year he repeatedly smacked his ex-girlfriend – a different woman to the previous victim – over the head with a crowbar outside Lackham College. He was jailed for two years and eleven months.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Thank you to everyone who has shared our appeals regarding wanted man David Dent.

“We are pleased to confirm that he has now been located in the Bristol area.

“He has been arrested and recalled to prison.”
