Firefighters rescue seriously injured motorcyclist from roadside ditch

Firefighters have rescued a seriously injured motorcyclist from a roadside ditch in Chiseldon.

The biker left the A346, near the Plough Inn, at around 8.50pm last night.

Fire crews from Swindon and Stratton, assisted by rope rescue teams from Chippenham and Trowbridge attended the scene alongside the ambulance service.

Once rescued from the ditch, the casualty was left in the care of South West Ambulance Service and conveyed to Southmead Hospital by Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The male rider, in his 20s, sustained a serious leg injury.
