Police launch investigation after red kite found shot dead in Wiltshire

Police are investigating the death of a red kite in Wiltshire.

The dead bird of prey was recovered on a public footpath close to Hens Wood, Axford, near Marlborough, on 20 April.

A forensic investigation revealed that the red kite had been shot.

Wiltshire Police is appealing for information relating to the shooting, which is thought to have occurred on 16 April – four days before the bird was recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wiltshire Rural crime team via 101, quoting crime report 54220038890.
