Police cordon off central Swindon road as emergency services attend ‘serious assault’

Emergency services are believed to be attending a ‘serious assault’ in central Swindon.

Police cordoned off part of Manchester Road as a crime scene at around 8.30pm tonight (22 May).

There’s a large police presence and a single ambulance at the incident. Armed officers and a dog unit are also in attendance.

Reports on social media suggest a man was attacked with a glass bottle, causing him serious injuries. Other reports suggest a knife was involved in the assault.

The road is closed in both directions between Corporation Street and Alfred Street.

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment, but a statement isn’t expected until tomorrow.
