Wiltshire school issues warning to parents over suspicious man who ‘scared’ child

A Wiltshire school has issued a warning to parents and carers over a suspicious incident.

Westbury Leigh Primary School says a child was left “concerned” when they were approached by a male driver on Eden Vale Road at around 3pm yesterday (Thursday, 19 May).

Whilst the exact nature of the approach has not been clarified by the school, it’s believed the man approached the child and made remarks which made them fear for their safety.

The school claims the incident was reported to Wiltshire Police, who are said to be investigating.

In an email to parents and carers, a spokesperson wrote: “We have been made aware of a male driver approaching a child on Eden Vale Road (near Bright Stars Nursery and Westbury Infant School) after school on 19.05.22.

“The child was concerned by this so the police were contacted and are taking this incident seriously.

“While the child was not harmed and we do not want to cause any panic, we consider it appropriate to make parents and carers aware of this so that you can be vigilant and have a discussion with your child(ren) about how to stay safe when travelling to and from school.”
